The Making of Our Fresnel Lens

Dan Spinella sent these pictures in late March, 2005 which show the manufacturing process of our lens.

The first two pictures show progress on the brass work which is the base of the lens and the framework that holds the prisms.

The remaining pictures show the machining of the prisms.  These were polished before being assembled into the brass frame.

FORI received a certificate of Thanks from Scott Hassett, Secretary of the DNR, for our $5900 donation towards the purchase of this lens.  The certificate is on display at the Lighthouse.
